PLANETSIDE 2 NC HEAVY ASSAULT LOADOUTS 2019

Titan AV – Tactical Field Operations

This loadout is meant to be a multi-purpose, flexible kit that even a beginning player can level up and use in the most scenarios.

Weapons:

  • NC6 Gauss Saw: This is the starter LMG for Heavy Assault.  200 damage per bullet and a predictable spray pattern allow a trained rifleman to lay down serious damage at any range.
    Teklyte Reflex (1x)
    Compensator
    Forward Grip
    High Velocity Ammunition
  • NS-44 Commissioner: This is the first pistol you should buy.  450 damage per bullet and medium range capabilities make this a great weapon to finish off an opponent close quarter combat gets too hectic.
    Nico (1x)
    Laser Sight
  • Hawk GD-68/AF-22 Crow: The Hawk is a high velocity Anti-Air Lock-on rocket that can be dumbfired (does not require lock-on to shoot straight at a target without locking on).  Due to its high velocity, it has very little drop at range, and does significant area of effect explosion damage; making it effective at dumbfiring at slow/stationary vehicles, MAXes, or into a room with infantry.  The Crow is the Anti-Vehicle (ground) version of this weapon.  If you plan on being out in the open field with your squad and air vehicles are a threat; take the Hawk as the lock-on will scare away enemy fighters (and might even kill a couple).  Otherwise, the Crow will allow you to lock onto Magriders and Harassers, both of which are typically difficult to hit with a dumbfire rocket.   If you want to save certs and are not interested in being able to dumbfire at targets, the Annihilator combines lock-on for all vehicles, but you can no longer dumbfire.

Utility – Suit – Ability

The Medical Kit restores 100hp instantly and provides immediate sustainability between engagements.  For our Ability slot with the controlled accuracy and heavy hitting damage of the NC6 Gauss Saw, the Adrenaline Shield is a natural choice at medium to long range as it recharges your shield with each kill and a trained rifleman can land shots at 100m.  In our Suit slot, Nanoweave Armor 5 provides a 20% damage reduction from most types of guns, giving additional sustainability in firefights.  Nanoweave can be swapped out for Flak Armor 5 if you predict incoming explosives.

Implants

Battle Hardened reduces camera shake and flinch from explosions and bullet impacts.  While the camera shake doesn’t happen as often as one might think, the flinch effect happens whenever you get shot and drastically reduces your accuracy.  Battle hardened allows you to remain accurate, so you can land your shots during a firefight, which is crucial to using the Assimilate implant.  Assimilate restores 200 shield with each headshot kill, making the NC6 Gauss Saw with its 200 damage bypassing shields and armor on headshots deadly as you essentially heal yourself with each kill.  Coupled with Adrenaline shield recharging with each kill, this kit is built for sustainability at medium to long range engagements.

Advanced Options

With A.S.P. points you can equip a second LMG in your Secondary slot instead of a pistol.  This includes the NC05 Jackhammer, our faction specific heavy shotgun, which I equip with a darklight to punish cloakers who think they can sneak up on my heavy assault out in a field battle.

Storm Trooper – SWAT Mobility

This loadout is built for breaching and clearing bases as a fireteam.  It is built for sustained engagement without disengaging from a firefight by combining passive damage mitigation, health regeneration, and the ability to move while aiming down sites.

Weapons:

  • NS-15M2: The NS-15M2 is not the hardest hitting, most accurate, or highest rate of fire weapon available to you, but it has an unpublished function that it allows you to move at 75% normal movement speed while aiming down sights when all other primary weapons reduce your speed by 50%.  This allows you to move through rooms and hallways always aiming your weapon, giving you a faster reaction time and securing kills.
    Nico (1x)
    Compensator
  • NS-44 Commissioner: This is the first pistol you should buy.  450 damage per bullet and medium range capabilities make this a great weapon to finish off an opponent close quarter combat gets too hectic.
    Nico (1x)
    Laser Sight
  • NS Decimator: The Decimator is the hardest hitting rocket launcher available.  With a whopping 950 damage on a direct hit, this is a MAX and Heavy Assault killing machine.  It is meant to be used at close range to finish a target off as the rocket has a very low velocity (it hits the target slower, thus requiring a larger lead on moving targets, AND it drops very quickly making it difficult to hit even stationary targets at range).  However, in CQC it packs a finishing punch with minimal splash damage, making it perfect for breaching rooms where MAXes are known to be stationed.

Utility – Suit – Ability

The Restoration Kit restores 70hp per second for 12 seconds for a total of 840hp. When combined with Resist Shield 5 in our Ability Slot which mitigates 35% of incoming damage, the two work synergistically together for sustainability in a duel without disengaging between volleys.  In our Suit slot, we equip grenade bandolier to load us up with 3 additional AV grenades. The reason we do not equip Flak or Nanoweave armor is because Resist Shield, with it’s large amount of damage mitigation, does not stack with other resistances and as we’ll see below, with the Carapace implant, we do not have a personal shield to quickly recharge with the Advanced Shield Capacitor.

Implants

The implants on this kit are what brings it all together.  Nanomesh Specialist 4 reduces the rate of decay on your overshield (Resist Shield 5) by 80% while stationary, and 40% while moving. This is important because unlike other Overshields, Resist Shield doesn’t deplete when it takes damage; it remains on for it’s entire duration, regardless of damage taken.  This means while standing still Carapace converts your 500 shield into 500 hit points, which allows you to immediately gain the benefit of your restoration kits.  Furthermore, if you have no personal shield, you cannot lose your shield to things like EMP grenades – effectively making you immune to EMP (as far as your personal shield is concerned).

Explanation

Everything in this kit works together to a TANK of a heavy assault whose purpose is to move determinedly through a building, clearing rooms, and counting on their teammates to create force multipliers and achieve superior firepower.  Let’s do some math.

500 hp + 500 hp (converted from shield) = 1000hp

1000hp + 840hp (generated by restoration kit over 12 seconds) = 1840hp

1840hp * 1.35 (35% damage mitigation from Resist Shield 5) = 2484hp

Over a 12 second period, this kit has roughly 150% more effective hit points than the standard heavy assault (without overshield turned on).  As long as you do not get focused down, this kit is made to survive room breaches and point holds.  In both of these scenarios, you are either breaching or holding with an entire team on your side, making it much less likely for you to engage in 1v1 or 1v2 or more duels, spreading the damage out among your teammates.

Combining Nanomesh Specialist with the NS-15M2 allows you to gain this massive, passive effective HP pool increase while always aiming down sights. This pairs particularly well with indoor team combat and even Smoke Out tactics using IRNV sights.

Advanced Options

The commissioner can be swapped out for a Hunter QCX (crossbow) with Recon Bolts providing additional situational awareness over a secondary weapon that deals damage.  Warning: do not try to kill an enemy with a recon bolt, it will not happen!

Vanguard Trooper – Point Defense

This loadout is designed to provide hard-hitting, sustained firepower in a large room or point hold situation where you have a full squad or more with you defending an indoor objective.

Weapons:

  • EM1: The EM1 has 100 rounds per magazine and a 25m maximum damage range (with soft point ammunition), making it ideal for holding down large rooms and corridors.  In tighter areas, this can be swapped out for the MGR-L1 Promise which has 150 rounds per magazine (when using Smart Feeder) and a higher rate of fire, but a much lower maximum damage range of 10m.
    Teklyte Reflex (1x)
    Forward Grip
    Soft point ammunition

When combined with Resist Shield 5 in our Ability Slot which mitigates 35% of incoming damage, the two work synergistically together for sustainability in a duel without disengaging between volleys.  In our Suit slot, we equip Advanced Shield Capacitor for fast recharge of personal shields in between firefights. The reason we do not equip Flak or Nanoweave armor is because Resist Shield, with it’s large amount of damage mitigation, does not stack with other resistances.

Implants

Nanomesh Specialist 4 reduces the rate of decay on your overshield (Resist Shield 5) by 80% while stationary, and 40% while moving. This is important because unlike other Overshields, Resist Shield doesn’t deplete when it takes damage; it remains on for it’s entire duration, regardless of damage taken.  Ocular Shield reduces duration and effectiveness of EMP, Concussion, and Flash grenades making it so you can continue to punish enemies while your teammates are blind or stunned.

Explanation

This is a pretty simple kit.  Choose it when you’re doing a large indoor defense.  Find a spot against a wall with one of your flanks blocked by cover.  At the first sign of a major push, pop a restoration kit, turn on your overshield, and start laying down the punishment.  When standing stationary, your nanomesh specialist combines with resist shield to give you 35% damage mitigation for a whopping 27 seconds!  Rely on your medics nano regeneration fields and shield recharging fields to keep you going while you hold down on that trigger.   Nothing makes it through your door alive.

The “Meta”

This is the NC “meta game” heavy assault used by the top Heavy Assault players in the game.  It is essentially the same build as the Titan AV build above with different weapons.  It is meant for high skill, accurate, small kill squads focusing using cover and the lowest Time To Kill (TTK) available to the NC.  (Theoretically, the Anchor has a 0.35 TTK when landing all headshots)

Weapons:

  • LA1 Anchor: The Anchor is a medium range LMG with a high rate of fire and damage output at short to medium range. It is very similar to the GD-22S with a slightly longer reload time, higher hip fire accuracy, but lower ranged capability.  Where it really shines is its ability to equip a laser sight and soft point ammunition.
    Teklyte Reflex (1x)
    Laser Sight
    Soft point ammunition
  • NS-44 Commissioner: This is the first pistol you should buy.  450 damage per bullet and medium range capabilities make this a great weapon to finish off an opponent close quarter combat gets too hectic.
    Nico (1x)
    Laser Sight

Utility – Suit – Ability

The Medical Kit restores 100hp instantly and provides immediate sustainability between engagements.  For our Ability slot the Adrenaline Shield is a natural choice for close quarter combat with a high damage, high rate of fire weapon like the Anchor.  In our Suit slot, Nanoweave Armor 5 provides a 20% damage reduction from most types of guns, giving additional sustainability in firefights.  Nanoweave can be swapped out for Flak Armor 5 if you predict incoming explosives.
